Lecture 5: Online Class Today

Lots to do today!

By the end of class today students must:

Complete the social media survey on the Module 2 blog post

Set up a blog using Blogger and write an introductory post about you and your field of study and what role communication plays in your work (dissemination of results, linking with fellow researchers, etc.…)

In a comment on the Module 2 blog post, leave a link to your newly started blog and note which Lab Section you are in (absolutely necessary so the professor and TAs can grade your work)

Note: you require a personal blog for your E-Portfolio.

Here is the rubric that will be used to grade your work. Keep it in mind as you write and create your blog so you can satisfy all criteria:

  1. Hi Jess,

On friday I tried adding a photo to my profile for my blog and every time i tried it came up as "This image could not be uploaded due to an internal error." I tried using a smaller photo as well as tried adding a photo from the internet. I saw that it is a part of the criteria to get full marks but i still can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

  2. I got a similar error message. I just kept trying different pictures until one worked. not really a solution but it worked for me

  3. Same as for me - I tried different photos, sizes, from my computer, from Photobucket, from other website URL's and nothing worked! I had to literally post a photo of myself in hopes I won't be getting docked marks because my computer inhibits me from uploading a photo.

  4. I can't upload a picture to my blog either, I will be leaving a link in my description instead for a twitpic photo of myself.

  5. Hopefully they can just omit this part seeing as a lot of people are having issues with it.

Hello Jess/Obi, this is the link to the FlickR page which has the photo of my Facebook page for UofA Agriculture Club that I created during lab today.

    Cheers,

  7. Also, I forgot to add that I chose to create a page for Ag Club because I am their Public Relations Officer, and I thought that creating a page would be a great way to keep everyone up to date with current events and information on the Club!

  18. I never foresaw myself having FLICKR, a blog, a professional Facebook page, and a Twitter account. Turns out, I actually find all of these things useful. I’ll be using Flickr to upload many more photos in the future. It’s nice being able to store things without using up your usb or your desktop memory.
