Social Media & Student Use

I just want to say how proud I am of all of you and how well you're harnessing social media to further your learning and collaboration.

I thought I would highlight student work when it is brought to my attention. Here is a great example of an ALES204 students (Julianna Damer) using YouTube to broadcast her thoughts and connect with other classmates. Feel free to comment here to start a discussion with Julianna and/or to let me know what you've been up to. Perhaps you've made a video or a google doc that you'd like me to share with the class?

  1. Doing a vlog was a wicked idea. Mad props, Julianna, for being so creative (and BRAVE, letting Jess post this!). I find that I've been spending tons of time formatting and reformatting my blog design, because every time I stumble upon someone else's, I get some new inspiration for something I'd like to do on my own. Besides that, I think I've been doing all the same things you have for the ePortfolio. Chipping away at the long to-do list until it gets finished (hopefully soon). Good luck with the rest of your project!

  2. That's really good too Sydney, to keep improving and reading around to gain other ideas. Perhaps you'd like to do a vlog about your blog work? :)

And ditto that Julianna was brave letting me post this! I hope other students let me share their ideas too!

  5. Hey Julianna, interesting video I was wondering what others were doing to fill up their e-portfolio. You've taken a really interesting route to add to yours. Last week I added an entry to my blog, and included a really cool picture that I found on Flickr and added some info to it related to nutrition as well. Check out my blog, it's pretty awesome I think haha. http://nutrition-foodscience.blogspot.com/

  7. Thank you for keeping the discussion going Sydney and Ninfa! It's good to hear that other students are doing similar things for the e-portfolio.

Thanks Pamela, I'm glad you liked it!
